A Field is one of the recognized subfields of computer science and computing practice: a distinct way of asking and answering questions about computation, information and the machines and systems that carry them out. Algorithms and complexity, artificial intelligence, computer networking, database systems, human computer interaction, operating systems, programming languages, computer security and software engineering are each their own field, with their own core concerns, methods and open problems, even where they overlap in practice. A Field is not a Language, a Concept or a System: a field is the discipline itself, the languages, concepts and systems below are what a field studies, builds or produces.
